The new building of the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery - a cultural institution that will revive the historical core of České Budějovice. An institution that will expand public space and offer the public direct contact with art. An institution that combines the region's rich history with modern artistic and architectural expression and thus completes a dignified face for the newly emerging Senovážné náměstí. A gallery that offers a suitable background for valuable works of art. A gallery that will be open to everyone. The creation of the new Sculpture Park will lead to an integral connection of art with public space while simultaneously expanding the surrounding park with a new, vertical perspective, which will simultaneously place artworks in the context of the urban environment and offer passers-by continuous contact with art in public space.
Thanks to its material solution, which consists of individually receding floors, the gallery creates publicly accessible terraces that serve not only as places for relaxation and rest for visitors to the indoor exhibition, but also as open spaces for art installations, giving visitors the opportunity to experience art in an outdoor environment and to use this space independently of the events inside the gallery. By making the public terraces accessible, the gallery building is actively involved in the happenings in the public space, where art becomes an integral part of urban life. With its openness, the gallery building will simultaneously offer a new socio-cultural platform that will strengthen the city's identity.
