By dividing the former factory complex into three blocks, each with its own function, public axes will be created between them connecting the city with the river embankment. In this way, we integrate the former factory into the structure of the city. We preserve the original industrial character as much as possible and, in addition to the buildings of the city's archives, we add small architecture supporting the everyday life of the residents.
The concept of the Archive's new buildings draws inspiration from industrial architecture and adapts it to the need for a new function. The roofing of the existing buildings by Pier Luigi Nervi is reinterpreted by designing an inverted part that similarly enables lighting from above. The ground floor of buildings is maximally permeable and passable.
